We are off! The first day of a journey is always exciting, and today is especially exciting since we are doing something we’ve never done before. We’ve never traveled in September, and we’ve never gone on such a long journey without it being a camping trip. This is amazing!
From 1992 to 1996 we lived in western PA. During that time we developed some close friendships, primarily through the Christian Fellowship that we were a part of. When our western PA friends heard that we were going to be traveling to the South, they asked us if we could stop by for a visit on our way down or on our way back. Well, I don’t need to have my arm twisted in a case like that, so our route to Memphis took us through Chippewa, PA today. The road was familiar, and the weather was spectacular, but the best part of the day was renewing our old friendships.
Although we didn’t have a lot of time to spend together, we made the most of every minute. It is amazing to realize that we only lived near these friends for four years and have been able to maintain our friendship for 17 more years. Time spent with them feels like there have been no years of separation. It is just as if we still lived here, in some ways. Renewal of friendship and relationship is something to celebrate.
Thanks, Bob and Nancy and Tina and Paul for becoming a part of this memorable journey. Thanks for a wonderful evening of a celebration of friendship.
